Precautions for Tire-Type Girder Transporters

Tire-type Beam transporter It consists of two independently operating units: the front carriage and the rear carriage. The front carriage of the tire-type girder transporter is passive, while the rear carriage is active; each is equipped with its own independent power system that offers multiple gear settings, allowing the operator to select an appropriate speed during transport based on road conditions.

  Precautions for tire-type girder transporters:

  1. Position the girder transporter on one side of the girder slab, and park the main and auxiliary vehicles in appropriate locations.

  2. The gantry crane lifts the girder and moves it horizontally over the girder transporter, then slowly lowers it to place the girder on the transporter.

  3. The strapping personnel lift the four reinforcing struts on the girder transport vehicle, adjust the tension of the lead screws to secure the struts, and then release the gantry crane hook to complete the girder loading.

  4. Reinforce the beam and slab using four steel wire ropes and four hoists.

  5. Before departure, inspect the tension of the support rods and wire ropes; only after confirming compliance with the requirements may the vehicle be started and driven out of the girder yard at low speed.

  6. When operating under heavy load, maintain a straight-line speed of 15–50 km/h and a turning speed of 3 km/h. When crossing bridges or driving on slopes, maintain a steady, smooth speed at all times; rapid acceleration and abrupt braking are strictly prohibited.

  7. During transportation, personnel shall inspect the girder position and the tension of the wire ropes every 5 kilometers.

  8. Both the driver and co-driver shall be equipped with a walkie-talkie to maintain constant communication.

  9. When the girder transporter is traveling beneath the bridge erector, first release the wire ropes of the main and auxiliary trolleys; after the bridge erector has securely hooked the girder-lifting wire ropes, release the support struts of the main trolley; then the bridge erector lifts one end of the girder to the appropriate height, while the auxiliary trolley engages the girder-feeding gear and feeds the girder at the same speed as the bridge erector’s overhead crane.

  10. Upon completion of girder feeding, the bridge-launching gantry first hoists the girder-lifting wire ropes; the girder transporter then releases the secondary support struts and hoists; after the bridge-launching gantry lifts the girder, it proceeds with self-fed girder placement, and the girder transporter returns to load another girder.
