First Box Girder Successfully Cast for Zhengzhou Fourth Ring Road and Dahe Road Expressway Project
Xin Dafang News: On the morning of April 26, amid fluttering colorful flags and the steady roar of machinery at the Xin Dafang Mazhai Prefabrication Yard for the West Fourth Ring Road project, the casting ceremony for the first box girder of the Zhengzhou Fourth Ring Road and Dahe Road Expressway Upgrade Project was solemnly held.
Yang Huchen, Party Secretary of the Zhengzhou Municipal Urban and Rural Construction Commission; Li Junming, Deputy Director of the Commission and Commander of the West Fourth Ring Road Project; Yang Qi, Deputy Director of the Commission and Commander of the Precast Yard Command; Zhang Chao, Deputy District Mayor of Erqi District; Zhou Tao, Deputy Commander of the Box-Girder Command; Dr. Sun Junling, Technical Director of the Design Consortium for the Fourth Ring Road Project; and Gan Nuotekema, Executive President of American Hanyang International Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.—along with numerous other leaders—attended the launch ceremony. Accompanied by Li Weibing, General Manager of the Xindafang Precast Yard; Liu Chunhui, Plant Manager; as well as representatives from the supervision, quality inspection, and construction units, they jointly witnessed the successful concrete placement of the first box girder.
At 10:00 a.m., Zhang Zhihua, Chairman of Zhengzhou New Dafang Heavy Industry Science And Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a welcome address on behalf of the Mazhai Girder Yard of New Dafang. He first extended a warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders for attending the launch ceremony, and expressed his highest respect for their care, support, and assistance to New Dafang! He stated that the Fourth Ring Road project is currently the largest single municipal bridge project in the world in terms of investment, with a large volume of segmental girder prefabrication and stringent technical requirements, necessitating specialized research and technological breakthroughs in many new technologies, new materials, new processes, and new equipment. He added that, in order to successfully complete the prefabrication tasks and deliver the project on schedule, the Mazhai Girder Yard of New Dafang will make meticulous arrangements and scientific plans, “roll up our sleeves and work hard, and join forces to build the Fourth Ring Road,” putting in a hundredfold effort to present the people of Zhengzhou with a satisfactory result in “green, technological, and intelligent urban bridge construction.”
Subsequently, Li Weibing, General Manager of the New Dafang Girder Yard, delivered a statement. In his address, he pledged that the yard would uphold a strong sense of the bigger picture, a forward-looking mindset, and a commitment to craftsmanship, while rigorously adhering to all standards and requirements issued by the Municipal Construction Commission, the Project Command, the Yard Command, as well as the design and supervision teams and other relevant entities. Through sustained and in-depth technological innovation and the promotion of standardized management, the yard will ensure the safe, high-quality, and efficient completion of girder production, thereby turning this project into a reliable, satisfactory, and premium undertaking that fully repays the trust and support of all sectors of society.
The launch ceremony received strong support and close attention from the Municipal Construction Commission. Yang Qi, Deputy Director of the Municipal Construction Commission and Commander of the Liangchang Command Center, delivered an enthusiastic address. He emphasized that the Fourth Ring Road and the Dahé Road expressway upgrade project is both time-sensitive and demanding; its timely and high-quality completion will have a profound and far-reaching impact on improving the city’s road network, enhancing its capacity for scientific and technological innovation, and accelerating the development of the central city, making it of great significance. He expressed the hope that all participating units would take the successful casting of the first girder as an opportunity to learn from one another, reinforce each other, and redouble their efforts to ensure adherence to the schedule, safety, quality, and efficiency, and to carry out the girder fabrication work to the highest standards and with the strictest requirements, thereby making new and even greater contributions to the construction of Zhengzhou as a central city.
At 10:16, Yang Huchen, Party Secretary of the Municipal Construction Committee and Commander of the Fourth Ring Road Project Command, personally gave the order to commence the pouring of the first box girder. At his command, fireworks burst into the sky and machinery roared to life, officially marking the start of the first box-girder pour and heralding the beginning of the entire box-girder-concreting phase of the Fourth Ring Road project.
The successful concrete placement of the first girder holds significant practical and guiding value for validating the bridge design, refining construction procedures, optimizing the concrete mix proportion, improving formwork and girder fabrication processes, and achieving factory-based production. The girder yard will meticulously review and analyze the process parameters used in the placement of the first box girder, refine and standardize the construction workflow and technical control criteria, adopt a “point-to-area” approach with model projects leading the way, fully leverage its demonstration and catalytic role, and strive to provide valuable experience for design verification, process evaluation, quality control, and productivity enhancement across the entire Fourth Ring Road project’s precast girder operations. In doing so, it will make active contributions to the promotion of factory-based bridge construction and digitalization in Zhengzhou City.
