Five New Stations to Be Built as Construction on the Jiaozuo–Luoyang–Pingdingshan High-Speed Railway Begins

Recently, the Henan Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment issued its Approval on the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the New Jiaozuo–Pingdingshan Railway. The formal approval of the project’s EIA report has created the necessary conditions for the subsequent approval of the preliminary design, bringing the project one step closer to commencement.
Project Overview:
The new Jiaozuo–Pingdingshan Railway is a high-speed line designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h. It forms part of the “Hohhot–Nanning Corridor,” one of the eight north–south corridors outlined in the National Medium- and Long-Term Railway Network Plan. The line originates at the Jueshan Signal Box on the Zhengzhou–Taiyuan High-Speed Railway, heads south through Qinyang City and Jiyuan City under the jurisdiction of Jiaozuo Municipality, crosses the Yellow River, and then connects to Luoyang Longmen Station on the Zhengzhou–Xuzhou High-Speed Railway. It continues via Yichuan County and Ruyang County in Luoyang Municipality, passes through Ruzhou City under the jurisdiction of Pingdingshan Municipality, and finally links up with Pingdingshan West Station on the Zhengzhou–Chongqing High-Speed Railway. The total length of the new line is 229.2 kilometers.

Five new stations—Qinyang West, Jiyuan East, Mengjin North, Ruyang East, and Ruzhou South—will be constructed along the entire line, while Luoyang Longmen and Jiaozuo West stations will be renovated; Yichuan West station is reserved for future construction, to be implemented when passenger demand has matured.
The project’s feasibility study report was jointly approved by China State Railway Group and the Henan Provincial Government in March of this year.
In the preliminary work for the Jiaozuo–Luoyang–Pingdingshan Railway, the feasibility study and the preliminary design are two critical stages, with the environmental impact assessment being an essential component of the preliminary design.
During this period, the Zhengzhou Railway Group Co., Ltd. will fully implement the decisions and arrangements of China State Railway Group and the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and the Henan Provincial People’s Government, as well as relevant work plans; conduct overall planning and coordinated promotion of the project’s preliminary work; supervise and coordinate the collaborative efforts of all member units in conducting research and resolving issues at each stage of the preliminary phase; ensure the smooth advancement of the project’s preparatory work; and guarantee the achievement of the scheduled commencement target.
As a major railway construction project prioritized for national development, the Jiaozuo–Luoyang–Pingdingshan High-Speed Railway is of great significance in accelerating the rise of the central region, improving transportation infrastructure in western Henan Province, and expediting the establishment of a modern railway infrastructure system.
Furthermore, once the Jiaozuo–Luoyang High-Speed Railway is completed, Jiyuan, as a state-level demonstration zone for industry–city integration directly administered by Henan Province, will finally be connected to the high-speed rail network. This development will serve as a significant catalyst for the coordinated economic, cultural, and tourism-driven growth of cities across the Central Plains region.
