Chairman Zhang Zhihua was invited to attend the Opening Ceremony for the Class of 2023 at North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power and delivered a message: “Hoist the sails and ride the timeless rivers; cross the vast seas and forge an immortal life.”
The crisp autumn breeze heralds a grand occasion, while the fragrant osmanthus flowers joyfully welcome the new.
On the morning of September 6, the Opening Ceremony for the Class of 2023 and the Mobilization Rally for Military Training at North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power (hereinafter referred to as NCUWREP) were solemnly held at the Balanced Sports Field on the Longzihu Campus. Attending the event were university leaders Liu Wenkai, Gao Jingyan, Liu Pangen, Liu Handong, Wang Tianze, Liu Xuemei, Liu Junguo, Li Weihua, and Ma Jianqin, among others. As a distinguished alumnus representative, Chairman Zhang Zhihua was invited to attend and delivered an enthusiastic address.
In 1979, Zhang Zhihua, driven by his dreams, was admitted with outstanding academic performance to the Mechanical Engineering program at Huazhong Water Conservancy and Electric Power University. During his four years of undergraduate study, he not only acquired a solid foundation in his field but also gained a clear understanding of the current state of China’s mechanical engineering sector, thereby nurturing a strong aspiration to serve the nation.
After a 43-year hiatus, Zhang Zhihua was deeply moved to return to his alma mater as an alumnus welcoming new students to this momentous occasion. He expressed his sincerest gratitude and best wishes to his beloved alma mater and extended a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to the younger students who have successfully been admitted to China University of Water Resources!
Following this, he addressed the incoming freshmen with a message entitled “Hoist the Sails and Ride the Eternal Rivers and Streams; Cross the Vast Ocean and Forge an Immortal Life.” He fondly recalled his cherished years at HuaShui, revisited the original aspirations that drove him to venture into the maritime industry, and reflected on the arduous journey of struggle and the remarkable achievements attained at Xin Da Fang. He emphasized that these accomplishments are not only the fruit of the hard work and dedication of the Xin Da Fang team, but also the embodiment of the wisdom and strength of the HuaShui community—and, above all, they underscore China’s leading position and pride in specialized equipment!
Addressing the vibrant new students, he spoke with heartfelt earnestness: “University is not only a fresh beginning but also fertile ground for shaping the future. I hope you will always keep firmly in mind the HuaShui spirit of ‘being able to endure hardship, being willing to go to the grassroots, being capable of applying what you learn, being able to stay and thrive, and performing well in your work.’ Let the principles of ‘cultivating virtue, aspiring high, and building a career’ constantly inspire and motivate you, so that you may gain knowledge and experience profound personal growth at HuaShui; integrate learning, reflection, practice, and insight to steadfastly stay on course; cherish your youth and strive for continuous improvement every day. In the great journey toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the realization of the Chinese Dream, I urge you to repay your alma mater with outstanding achievements and to live up to this magnificent era!”
Finally, he encouraged the students to remain healthy, happy, and self-confident Huashui alumni as they pursue knowledge and realize their dreams; to uphold integrity, diligence, and a strong sense of responsibility; to persevere in the face of setbacks and strive for continuous progress; and to cultivate gratitude toward society while cherishing family and country.
