Gantry Crane Prices and Maintenance Methods
Gantry Crane The applications of gantry cranes are categorized by size, type, and weight, and these same factors also influence their price. Visually, a gantry crane typically resembles a door-shaped frame, with two legs mounted beneath the main girder that enable it to move directly along ground-mounted rails. Cantilever beams may be attached to either end of the main girder. Virtually all gantry cranes are designed in this configuration. So today, let’s take a closer look at the different types of gantry cranes, their pricing, and proper maintenance practices!
We frequently encounter gantry cranes in everyday life. Their widespread application is primarily due to their high site utilization, broad operational range, strong adaptability, and high degree of versatility, particularly in port cargo yards.
Its main components include: cylindrical wheels, buffers, brake shoes, wire ropes, hooks, a cab, gear reducers, cast pulleys, cast drums, and electric motors. Based on the operating dimensions of gantry cranes and the market prices of their components, the typical price ranges from approximately RMB 8,000 to RMB 10,000, with the exact cost determined by the crane’s lifting capacity. For a 10-ton gantry crane, considering its use at lower altitudes, the price is around RMB 1,000, making it relatively affordable. In contrast, a 50-ton gantry crane typically costs about RMB 10,000. However, a precise price estimate requires taking multiple factors into account!
Gantry hoists are typically installed outdoors. Due to frequent exposure to wind, rain, and sunlight, the main structure and components of the gantry-type gate operator may suffer corrosion, leading to damage or deformation; therefore, regular maintenance is essential. First, inspect the hoist hook and wire rope for broken strands, cracks, and severe rust, and clean and lubricate them as necessary. Second, conduct a monthly inspection of the pulley block, drum, and sheaves to check for cracks and ensure that the clamping bolts and drum base bolts are properly tightened.
Special attention should be paid to inspecting the motors of gantry cranes to prevent water or oil from entering during operation. In addition, the motor’s mounting holes and junction box must be properly sealed against water, and the motor should be operated at a supply voltage no lower than 85% of its rated voltage. During maintenance of the gantry crane rails, the tapping method using a small hammer is often employed to check for cracks and loosening in the rails and their anchor bolts.
