How can rust on single-girder crane bearings be prevented?

Currently, single girder Crane It is widely used at construction sites for large-scale projects, helping to ensure effective project implementation. Bearings are critical components; however, if they are not properly maintained and used, they can easily rust, which in turn affects their normal operation. So, how can we prevent the bearings of a single-girder crane from rusting?

  I. Surface Cleaning The cleaning of bearings must be carried out using methods appropriate to the material properties and environmental conditions. Common cleaning methods include chemical cleaning, mechanical cleaning, and solvent cleaning. It is also important to ensure that the surface is thoroughly dried after cleaning; this can be achieved by blowing it dry with filtered, dry compressed air or by drying it in an oven. In addition, under simple conditions, the bearing may be wiped dry with a cotton cloth.

II. Application of Rust-Preventive Oil On the basis of thorough cleaning, apply an appropriate rust-preventive oil to isolate the metal from air. The method of applying the rust-preventive oil shall be selected according to the intended use and size of the single-girder crane. The application procedure is as follows:

  1. Soaking Method: For smaller bearings, they can be immersed in anti-rust grease to ensure the grease adheres to the bearing surface, thereby providing protection. The thickness of the oil film can be adjusted as needed by regulating the temperature and viscosity.

  2. Spraying Method: For large cranes, the spraying method is more suitable and convenient. It is applicable to solvent-thinned rust-preventive oils or thin-film rust-preventive oils; however, to ensure safety, comprehensive fire-prevention and occupational-health protection measures must be implemented.
