What should you do if a girder transporter catches fire?

If Beam transporter If the driver or passengers detect an unusual odor or see smoke, they must remain vigilant. These could be signs of spontaneous combustion. It is best to pull over to a safe area, exit the cab immediately, and use the fire extinguisher that is always kept in the vehicle to put out the fire.

Older beam-transport vehicles may also experience aging of the fuel system and loosening of fuel-line connections after prolonged operation, which can lead to fuel leaks and, in the presence of open flames, easily result in spontaneous combustion. Solution: Inspect and repair the fuel lines promptly. If excessive wear is detected, the lines must be replaced without delay. Should a fuel leak be discovered during operation, it must be addressed immediately before continuing to drive.

Many of the beam-transport truck drivers’ friends are heavy smokers who like to smoke while driving to stay alert; however, when the vehicle is traveling at high speed, the cigarette butts often fail to go out completely, and strong winds can blow embers into the cargo compartment, potentially leading to a disaster. In addition, some of their gaming buddies even choose to cook in taxis using open flames.

Solution: When operating the girder-launching truck, try to avoid smoking while driving. If smoking inside the cab is not permitted, it is advisable to place an ashtray in the cab and ensure that cigarette butts are completely extinguished before disposal. In addition, when cooking inside the vehicle, use an induction cooker instead of open flames to prevent hazards.

If the fire is small, you may use a fire extinguisher to put it out; however, be sure to check whether there is smoke or open flame inside the engine compartment under the front hood, and do not open the hood. Opening the beam-transport vehicle’s front hood will expose the compartment to more air, and convective airflow could ignite the fire, causing it to spread more rapidly. Moreover, the hood itself may have already heated up and become very hot, so attempting to open it with bare hands could result in severe burns to your arms.
