What are the precautions for operating a crane?

   Crane Precautions:

  (1) Each crane unit must display a sign indicating its rated lifting capacity in a conspicuous location.

  (2) During working hours, no personnel are allowed on the bridge, and no personnel are to be transported using lifting hooks.

  (3) Operation of cranes is prohibited without an operating permit and when under the influence of alcohol.

  (4) During operation, maintain full concentration; do not talk, smoke, or engage in unrelated activities.

  (5) The vehicle interior shall be kept clean; equipment, tools, flammable materials, explosives, and hazardous materials must not be placed haphazardly.

  (6) Overloading is prohibited for cranes.

  (7) Lifting is prohibited under the following circumstances: insecure rigging; overload of machine components; unknown signals; diagonal pulling; objects buried in the ground; persons on the lifted object; flammable or explosive hazardous materials lacking adequate safety protection; liquid items overfilled beyond capacity; wire ropes that do not meet safety requirements for use; or malfunctions in the lifting mechanism.

  (8) When the crane is operating on a clear, obstacle-free route, the bottom of the hook or lifting attachment and the lifted load must be kept at least 2 meters above the ground. If crossing an obstacle, the clearance must be at least 0.5 meters above the obstacle.

  (9) When lifting an object weighing less than 50% of the rated lifting capacity, simultaneous operation of two mechanisms is permitted; when lifting an object weighing more than 50% of the rated lifting capacity, only one mechanism may operate.

  (10) For bridge cranes equipped with main and auxiliary hooks, do not raise or lower the two hooks simultaneously (except in special circumstances).

  (11) Welding or hammering on lifted objects is prohibited, as is working beneath such objects (even if they are supported).

  (12) Inspection or repair work may be carried out only after the power has been switched off and a “Power Off” warning sign has been hung on the switch. If live work is required, safety measures must be implemented, and a designated person must be assigned to oversee the operation.
