Performance Parameters of Cranes

   Crane Main performance parameters:

The main parameters of a crane are those that represent its primary technical performance characteristics; they form the basis for crane design and serve as an important reference for safety technical requirements.

  Crane self-weight g

Self-weight refers to the mass of the entire machine under standard configuration, with units in tonnes (t) or kilograms (kg).

  Increase weight q

Lifting capacity refers to the mass that can be lifted. It can be categorized into rated lifting capacity, maximum lifting capacity, total lifting capacity, and effective lifting capacity.

  Rated lifting capacity Qn

The rated lifting capacity is the sum of the mass of the load that the crane, together with detachable slings or attachments (such as grab buckets, electromagnetic chucks, balance beams, etc.), is capable of lifting.

  Total lifting weight Qz

The total rated lifting capacity of a crane is the combined mass of all materials that can be lifted simultaneously, including both detachable lifting attachments and permanently mounted lifting attachments (such as hooks, pulley blocks, hoisting wire ropes, and other lifting components located beneath the hoisting trolley).

  Effective weight Qp

Effective lifting weight refers to the net weight of materials that the crane is capable of lifting.

This parameter needs to be explained as follows:

  1. The rated lifting capacity indicated on the crane nameplate generally refers to the crane’s maximum safe working load and shall be conspicuously displayed in a prominent location on the crane structure.

Secondly, for crane booms, the rated lifting capacity varies with the boom outreach, and the lifting performance is characterized by the lifting moment. The value marked on the nameplate represents the maximum permissible lifting weight.

  3. When using a crane equipped with detachable lifting attachments (such as grab buckets, electromagnetic chucks, balance beams, etc.), the total weight of the lifting attachment and the material being lifted shall not exceed the rated capacity; the permissible mass of the material to be lifted is defined as the effective lifting capacity.
