Current Market Situation of Cranes

In October 2011, overall sales in China’s construction machinery industry remained sluggish. Specifically, excavator sales fell by 29.92% year on year, while bulldozer sales declined by 21.34% year on year. In 2011, under the influence of national macroeconomic regulation, credit-tightening policies led to a slowdown in some ongoing projects and the postponement of others that had originally been scheduled to commence; at the same time, consumers’ reduced purchasing power due to tighter credit conditions resulted in lower demand for construction machinery. Despite the severe challenges currently facing the construction machinery market, China’s economic growth remains robust. Looking ahead, China’s construction machinery industry is expected to remain in a period of rapid development, particularly in the rail sector. Crane The industry outlook is promising. The National Development and Reform Commission’s “Guidance Catalogue for Industrial Structure Adjustment (2011 Edition)” explicitly identifies crawler cranes with a capacity of 400 tonnes or more as an emerging industry and classifies them as “encouraged” products, underscoring the bright prospects for the crawler crane sector.

In the first three quarters of 2011, China’s heavy-truck industry sold a total of 712,000 vehicles. The heavy-truck market has entered a downturn.

First, industry policies are becoming increasingly stringent. Numerous laws and regulations have been enacted in areas such as national security, environmental protection, and energy conservation, and enforcement is also becoming progressively stricter. The formulation and implementation of these laws and regulations will result in higher technical requirements for heavy-truck products and increased product costs.

Second, market competition is becoming increasingly intense. The Chinese truck market is now operating within a globally competitive landscape. Although domestic brands currently hold an overwhelming share of the heavy-truck segment in China, this does not guarantee that the current market structure will persist indefinitely. Advances in product technology and reductions in localized manufacturing costs are both reshaping the competitive dynamics of the heavy-truck industry going forward.
