Tuanhe Aqueduct Project of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project

The Tuanhe Aqueduct is a key control project on the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, setting world records in terms of internal diameter, single-span length, and discharge capacity. Located over the Tuanhe River between Zhangpo Village in Shilin Town and Jizhai Village in Zhaoji Town in Dengzhou City, the aqueduct has a total length of 1,030 meters.

Project Features: The aqueduct comprises 18 spans, each 40 meters in length and weighing up to 1,600 metric tons, making it the largest water-conveyance project of its kind in China in terms of span length, individual-span water-crossing cross-sectional area, and single-span weight. The aqueduct structure consists of three independent prestressed concrete U-shaped channels, with an internal clear dimension of 7.23 m × 9.0 m per channel. Construction was carried out using an in-situ casting method with a channel-forming machine, which weighs 1,200 metric tons; the heaviest single component weighs 50.1 metric tons, and installation was performed at a height of 20 meters, resulting in simple construction and advanced technology.
