Zhengzhou Daily Publishes Coverage of the Appraisal Conference on the Company’s South-to-North Water Diversion Lifting, Transport, Erection, and Trench-Construction Equipment, as well as On-Site Construction Reports

“Made in Zhengzhou” Shines in the South-to-North Water Diversion Project

Another piece of good news for “Made in Zhengzhou.” Yesterday, the canal-lifting and erection equipment for the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project—jointly developed by Xindafang Heavy Industry Technology Co., Ltd. and North China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower—passed the appraisal conducted by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, marking the first-ever mechanized construction of large-scale precast aqueducts in China’s water-transfer projects.

The review panel conducted an on-site inspection at the construction site. At the construction site of the Shahe Aqueduct—the largest and one of the most technically challenging control projects along the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project—1,200-ton lifting and erection equipment has been employed to transfer mature, state-of-the-art technologies from high-speed rail and highway bridge construction to hydraulic aqueduct construction, effectively resolving the technical challenges associated with the lifting, transportation, and erection of large-scale precast aqueducts. According to Wang Penghui, Chief Engineer of the Shahe Project Department of China Hydropower Fourth Engineering Bureau, this equipment has set a precedent for mechanized installation and erection of large precast aqueducts in water-transfer projects in China. Under the same construction schedule, compared with the traditional full-coverage scaffolding method, labor requirements are reduced by one-third, resulting in cost savings of nearly RMB 200 million.

The expert panel unanimously concluded that the research, development, and application of the hoisting, transport, and slotting equipment have achieved integrated innovation and attained a leading level among comparable international technologies and equipment.
