Xindafang News: Prolonged hazy weather and steadily dropping temperatures have cast a winter-like chill over this season of blossoming spring… Yet, despite the lingering spring cold, nothing can dampen our unstoppable momentum; as the tide of spring surges forward, it carries with it the hope of our relentless striving. Indeed, this resounding slogan was the “most powerful note” that rang out at the opening ceremony of the staff sports meet jointly hosted by Xindafang and the Fifth Company of China Railway 16th Bureau Group.
After intensive preparations, the Employees’ Sports Meet between Xindafang and the Fifth Company of China Railway 16th Bureau Group officially kicked off on April 30 at the Xindafang Industrial Park. Zhang Zhihua, Chairman of Xindafang Group, delivered the opening address, stating that the joint organization of the sports meet aims, on the one hand, to strengthen camaraderie, interaction, communication, and mutual understanding between the two companies, to foster emotional bonds and deepen friendships, thereby creating a cooperative atmosphere characterized by unity, ambition, friendliness, and harmony; on the other hand, to enrich employees’ extracurricular cultural life, enable everyone to experience the joy of sports, enhance their awareness of physical fitness, and improve their overall health; and finally, to use the event as an opportunity to showcase the vibrant and energetic spirit of the Xindafang Girder Yard and to project a healthy, stable corporate image. The ceremony concluded with Kang Lei, Secretary of the Project Department of the Fifth Company of China Railway 16th Bureau, formally declaring the competition open.
A total of 212 participants from Zhengzhou New Dafang Heavy Industry Science And Technology Co., Ltd., Zhengzhou New Dafang Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd., Zhengzhou New Dafang Stork Equipment Co., Ltd., and the Fifth Company of China Railway Sixteen Bureau, among others, took part in nine events at this sports meet. The team events included tug-of-war, basketball, five-person footbag, and double shuttlecock; the individual events included jump rope, shuttlecock kicking, checkers, Chinese chess, and standing long jump. As you can see, the basketball court, the canteen, and the main roads within the factory grounds were all packed with people, with cheers, shouts, and encouragement rising and falling one after another, creating an atmosphere full of passion and vitality and making the event exceptionally lively.
The tug-of-war event is the most lively of all, and each time the official whistle blows to signal its start, it marks the opening of the sports meet. This year, Xindafang Group fielded a total of seven teams, while Shiliu Ju Wu Company entered two. With over a hundred participants on each team, the tug-of-war squads exuded an aura of high spirits and relentless determination—long before the match began, everyone was already rubbing their hands in anticipation, eager to gain the upper hand through sheer momentum. Tug-of-war is the event that best embodies team spirit: only when everyone pulls in the same direction and pools their strength can victory be achieved. At the venue, cheers erupted again and again, as spectators and athletes alike gave it their all, fighting tooth and nail for every inch of ground. In the end, the brothers from Shiliu Ju Wu Company emerged as champions in the men’s tug-of-war category.
In this tug-of-war competition, four all-female teams also competed in the women’s event. Though they may appear delicate and frail, these female colleagues were anything but timid on the field, each giving it their all to bring glory to their team. In the end, the women from Xindafang Bridge Company emerged as the champions of the women’s tug-of-war.
Basketball is all about skill and teamwork—these are the golden rules for victory! This basketball tournament featured four teams. Although the players weren’t dressed in uniform jerseys, their serious, focused expressions and unwavering enthusiasm remained undiminished. Each player was full of energy and vitality, radiating confidence and prowess—and in the end, the Xindafang Heavy Industry Technology Basketball Team emerged as the champion!
Here, we would like to extend special recognition to the New Dafang Stork Company basketball team. Due to last-minute work demands, three team members were reassigned to the construction site, leaving only four players available and making it difficult for them to compete. Nevertheless, the remaining players remained highly motivated and eager to participate, hoping that the parent company could arrange for an additional player to help them complete the tournament. In response, the parent company kindly coordinated the assignment of an extra player for Stork, enabling the team to field a full lineup without any substitutes and see every member through the entire game. Although they were ultimately eliminated, their passion for sports and their fearless, tenacious spirit are truly admirable.
The “Five-Person Balance” is the team event that best embodies coordination and cooperation: all five participants must move in perfect unison—no faster, no slower, no to the left, no to the right. Only when they march in step and apply equal force can they propel the wooden board beneath their feet forward. This event is mixed-gender; there are no separate men’s or women’s divisions. Although the male colleagues may have a physical advantage, they don’t necessarily walk as quickly or as steadily as the female colleagues. A total of nine teams took part, with the brothers from the Assembly Workshop of Xindafang Heavy Industry Technology taking first place, while the top two spots were claimed by two all-female teams from the General Office of Xindafang Heavy Industry Technology.
This time, the standing long jump was added as a new event, and it proved to be a popular and well-received addition, attracting nearly 40 participants. Athletes arrived at the venue early, eager to give it a try. With determined looks fixed on the target, they took a deep breath, summoned every bit of their strength, swung their powerful arms, and leapt forward, tracing a perfect arc through the air before landing with steady control. In the end, Zhang Shutao from the Marketing Center of Xindafang Heavy Industry Technology emerged victorious with an impressive mark of 2.70 meters.
Jump rope, shuttlecock kicking, checkers, Chinese chess, and double-deck bridge are popular leisure activities that enjoy widespread public appeal. Although shuttlecock kicking and jump rope have traditionally been considered specialties of women, the competition venues often feature agile male participants as well. The graceful movements of the men during shuttlecock kicking and the dazzling arcs of the jumping ropes leave even the women in awe, admitting they simply can’t match their skill.
Here, participants come together for the sheer enjoyment of sport, upholding the Olympic spirit of “friendship first, competition second.” They strive to remain humble in victory and resilient in defeat, showcasing their true skill, character, and achievements. Amid a harmonious, united, energetic, and friendly atmosphere, they actively engage in all events, fully embodying the proactive, optimistic, and upward-looking spirit of the employees of Xin Dafang and the Sixteenth Bureau.
