Xindafang Successfully Hosts the 2016 Employee Fun Sports Meet

Xindafang News: On November 15, the long-overcast skies suddenly cleared, and seizing the perfect moment, the annual Xindafang Fun Sports Meet kicked off once again. The cafeteria, basketball court, staff activity center, and main thoroughfares throughout the factory grounds were packed with participants, as cheers, shouts, and waves of support echoed one after another, brimming with passion and energy and creating an exceptionally lively atmosphere.

A total of 297 participants took part in this sports meet, which featured 11 events. The team events included tug-of-war, basketball, double-deck bridge, and five-a-side football, thoroughly testing the teams’ coordination and collaboration skills; the individual events comprised jump rope, shuttlecock kicking, Chinese checkers, Chinese chess, tire pushing, badminton, and table tennis, among others.

As in years past, the tug-of-war competition officially sounded the starting gun for the sports meet. Nearly a hundred participants from the Production and Manufacturing Center were divided into seven teams, all brimming with high spirits and fully poised to go. Even before the match began, each team was already eager to outdo the others in sheer determination and energy. Tug-of-war is one of the events that best embodies team spirit: only when everyone pulls in the same direction and pools their strength can victory be achieved. At the venue, cheers erupted again and again, as every participant gave it their all, fighting tooth and nail for every inch of ground. In the end, the brothers from the Metal Structures Workshop emerged as the champions of the men’s tug-of-war event.

At the tug-of-war competition venue, one team stood out in particular. Though each member was relatively small in stature and clearly at a disadvantage compared with the frontline production teams, they were nonetheless brimming with fighting spirit, full of confidence and fearlessness. This was the tug-of-war team from the Quality and Operations Control Management Department. Although they ultimately did not place, their performance exemplified the spirit of the New Dafang people: unyielding in the face of hardship, courageous in striving, and bold in competing.

Basketball is all about skill and teamwork—these are the golden rules for victory! This basketball tournament featured four teams. Although the players didn’t wear uniform jerseys, their serious, focused expressions and enthusiastic spirit were undiminished; each one was full of energy and vigor. In the end, the joint team from the Bridge Engineering Company and the Badminton Club emerged as the champions!

The Five-Person Wooden Board Walk is a new event introduced last year. After some familiarization and brief training, the team was already able to perform it quite well this year. This team event best showcases coordination and cooperation: all five participants must move in perfect unison—no speeding up, no slowing down, no veering left or right. Only when everyone marches in step and applies equal force can the wooden board beneath their feet propel forward. In the end, the colleagues from the Metal Processing Workshop took first place.

Tires remain our trusty companions, with the workshop technicians working with them every single day. The tire-pushing competition is highly entertaining and has become a staple event at our annual sports meet. Each tire weighs about 150 jin—slightly heavier than some of the employees taking part. While it may look simple to push a tire, getting it to roll quickly and steadily is far from easy. As you can see, along the path of development, agile figures deftly maneuver the tires, racing headlong toward the finish line. In the end, the colleagues from the Metal Processing Workshop clinched the top three spots thanks to their swift and steady technique.

Table tennis, badminton, jump rope, Chinese checkers, Chinese chess, and double-deck solitaire are popular leisure sports that enjoy widespread public appeal and attract large numbers of participants. Although jump rope is traditionally considered a women’s specialty, the competition venue was nonetheless filled with energetic male colleagues; the swift, airborne ropes left even the women trailing in awe and admitting they couldn’t match their pace.

Here, everyone participates for the sake of recreation and well-being, upholding the sporting spirit of “Friendship First, Competition Second.” Whether winning or losing, we remain humble and resilient, striving to perform at our best, showcase our style, and achieve outstanding results. Amid a harmonious, united, positive, and friendly atmosphere, we actively engage in all events, fully demonstrating the proactive, optimistic, and upward-looking spirit of the people of Xin Dafang.
