Xin Dafang’s first 1,800-ton tire-type girder launcher for the Kuwait Gulf Bridge has successfully passed the load test.

Xindafang News: On the afternoon of July 16, at the 20,000-square-meter test track in the Xindafang Industrial Park in Zhengzhou, two 1,800-ton capacity girder-launching cranes were conducting a series of highly challenging maneuvers, including straight-ahead girder lifting, 90-degree turning, and lateral movement.

This is the load test for the first 1,800-ton tire-type girder launcher commissioned by Xindafang for Kuwait’s Gulf Bridge project, and it also represents a critical milestone in the project’s acceptance process. Park Chan-soo, Project Manager of Hyundai’s Kuwait Cross-Sea Bridge project, along with other project leaders, as well as Zhang Zhihua, Chairman of Xindafang Group, Wan Kefeng, General Manager of the Overseas Division, and Wu Yaohui, Chief Engineer of the project, attended the load test.

The technical challenge of this experiment lies in the synchronous control of two girder-erection cranes and four girder-transport vehicles, which requires that the four bogies of the two cranes remain perfectly synchronized—a feat as demanding as in-flight refueling between two aircraft. Throughout the entire operation, the procedure was executed seamlessly according to the established sequence, with the lifted girder segments consistently maintained in a stable and level position.

Manager Park expressed great satisfaction that Xindafang had completed the tests according to schedule and to high standards, noting that the load test was successfully passed and the project has now been accepted. According to reports, the equipment is scheduled to be shipped to Kuwait by the end of this year for final assembly and will be officially put into operation in June next year.

This load test also drew attention from numerous media outlets, including Henan Provincial Television, Zhengzhou Municipal Television, Henan Daily, and Zhengzhou Daily, all of which dispatched reporters to the test site for on-site interviews and coverage.
