The Erqi District Cultural Center’s “Bringing Culture to the Countryside” Initiative Arrives in Xindafang

Xindafang News: March 5th of every year is a day worth commemorating—the Lei Feng Day. On this very day, volunteers across the country carry forward the spirit of Lei Feng and spread warmth and compassion in a wide variety of ways.

To further advance the building of a “Harmonious Erqi” and vigorously promote advanced socialist culture while enriching the spiritual and cultural needs of the general public, the Erqi District Cultural Center, under the leadership of Director Niu Leili, launched the “Rural Erqi—Women Volunteers’ Art Troupe Brings Culture and Legal Services to the Grassroots” initiative. On “Lei Feng Day,” the event was held at the Xindafang Industrial Park.

At 11:00 a.m., the Xindafang Industrial Park welcomed this group of “caring volunteers.” The event was held in the company canteen, with special guest Zhang Ming, a renowned host from Zhengzhou People’s Radio and the popular program “Tonight, No Loneliness.” As his deeply magnetic voice filled the room, thunderous applause and cheers erupted.

This performance can truly be described as a “gala of stars.” Xu Yaoqi, winner of the Silver Award in the Beijing Regional Competition of the 14th Youth Singing Contest and champion of the 2011 “Ritual and Music of China” Traditional Culture Song Competition, kicked off the event with a lively, high-energy rendition of “Bloom Red,” brimming with the vibrant energy of live performance. To mark the upcoming International Women’s Day, he then passionately dedicated another song, “Mother,” to all the mothers present—and to every mother around the world—wishing them good health and lifelong peace.

As a major province for traditional Chinese opera, Henan’s time-honored Yu Opera stands as the province’s artistic and cultural hallmark, wielding tremendous influence. Pang Xiaotian, winner of the “Liyuan Chun” championship, then performed a well-known excerpt from “Mu Guiying Takes Command”—the “Interrogation of Hong”—delivering each word with precise enunciation and a clear, resonant voice that sent the audience into a frenzy. Following this, the lively “Dance of Youth,” host Xu Peng’s rendition of “Eastern Beauty,” and especially the black-and-white fashion show “Timeless Charm” all opened our eyes, allowing us to appreciate up close an aura of elegance, style, and sophistication that drew thunderous applause from the entire audience.

Host Zhang Ming also took to the stage on the spur of the moment and recited a passage in the Henan dialect titled “The Sun Rises in the East,” sending everyone into fits of laughter. The event concluded on a high note with Director Niu Leili herself taking the stage to deliver a heartfelt performance of “Tomorrow Will Be Better.”

The members of the performing arts troupe participating in this show have an average age of nearly 60, with several even approaching their seventies; yet the confidence, vitality, youthfulness, and charm they exude put even us younger performers to shame.

Although no elaborate stage was erected, the hosts and performers demonstrated a level of focus, professionalism, and dedication that was in no way inferior to any professional production. All employees of Xindafang took part in this event, and Executive Vice President Chen Hao, on behalf of the company, extended heartfelt gratitude for their outstanding performance. He noted that the event had enriched the leisure lives of Xindafang employees, allowing them to unwind and savor a vibrant cultural feast amidst their busy work schedules.
