First Prize│Warm Congratulations to Xindafang on Its Science Communication Video, “The Bridge-Building Powerhouse—900-Ton Integrated Transport-and-Erecting Machine,” Winning the First Prize in the 2024 National “Cloud Talks on New Technology” Science Communication Competition


Recently, the results of the 2024 “Cloud Talks on New Technology” Science Communication Competition were officially announced, with a total of 171 science communication entries receiving awards: 26 first prizes, 43 second prizes, and 102 third prizes. In addition, 45 entries were honored with the “Most Popular Award.”

Notably, Xindafang’s meticulously produced science communication video on its “Bridge-Building Masterpiece—900-Ton Integrated Transport-and-Erecting Machine,” leveraging the company’s unique industry strengths, emerged as the winner of the first prize in the 2024 National “Cloud Talks on New Technology” Science Communication Competition after fierce competition across multiple rounds, including online voting, on-site presentations of the entries, explanations of the creative concepts, and expert defenses.

The “Cloud Talks on New Science and Technology” Popular Science Communication Competition is a national popular science event hosted by the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering. It aims to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s “Two Wings Theory” and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, cultivate and enhance the ability of scientific and technological workers to explain and disseminate Results, and ensure that Results are disseminated and translated more effectively, rapidly, and widely. With the theme “Spreading New Science and Technology through Sound,” the competition distills scientific and technological achievements into popular science video works that are scientific, thought-provoking, and engaging. Targeting college students and science enthusiasts, it uses simple, easy-to-understand language to popularize scientific knowledge, promote science and technology, advocate scientific methods, disseminate scientific ideas, and carry forward the spirit of science.

The new integrated bridge-erection and girder-transport machine enables girder-lifting operations under conditions where bridges are connected to tunnels (or within tunnels), serving as a specialized piece of equipment that integrates lifting, transportation, and erection functions into one. The video explains, in simple, easy-to-understand, and accessible language, the construction procedures for this integrated machine and how bridge erection is carried out, bringing cutting-edge technologies, new materials, innovative processes, advanced equipment, new products, and novel operational models from the manufacturing sector closer to the general public. This effort helps foster a positive societal climate that values, appreciates, learns, and applies science.

Going forward, Xindafang will continue to uphold the theme of the conference—“disseminating Results and boosting scientific and technological innovation”—by continuously innovating and integrating science with education, so as to ensure that Results are disseminated, translated, and applied more effectively, more rapidly, and on a larger scale, thereby facilitating the effective linkage between scientific and technological innovation and industrial applications.
