National Strategic Asset | Just One Day Later, the New Dafang’s Zhishenxing-1 Rocket Successfully Launches

At 16:12 Beijing Time on May 29, 2024, the Xinghe Power Guishenxing-1 sea-launch variant of the Yaosan carrier rocket—the Tianqi constellation’s dedicated “one rocket, four satellites” mission—was successfully launched from a maritime launch vessel in waters near Shandong Province.

For this launch mission, the DCY100 rocket transporter—developed in-house by Xinfada—was responsible for transporting the rocket.

Sea-based launches offer flexible launch-site selection, reduce rocket fuel consumption, and enable trajectory design that ensures all rocket debris fall within designated maritime zones, thereby enhancing safety. However, the technical challenges of sea-based launches are also relatively high. The DCY100 rocket transport and launch vehicle was specifically designed by Xinfada for the roll-on/roll-off transport of the Ceres-1 Sea-Launch Version Y2 launch vehicle, taking into account such factors as the vehicle’s ability to roll the integrated spacecraft–rocket assembly aboard ship, the maximum roll angle under various sea conditions, and the precise control of the vehicle’s movement and positioning on the ship’s deck, all to ensure the successful completion of the launch mission.

At 7:39 a.m. Beijing time on May 31, the Guishenxing-1 Y12 launch vehicle successfully lifted off, placing the Aurora Constellation’s Aurora-01 and Aurora-02 laser communication test remote-sensing satellites into their designated orbits, marking a complete success for the mission. The launch also carried the Zhangjiang High-Tech Satellite, Yunyao-1 No. 26, and Hebei Linxi-1.

The launch mission is being carried out by the Xinfada DCY80 rocket transport and launch vehicle.

The DCY series transport vehicle is a highly intelligent, integrated mechatronic–hydraulic system and serves as Xindafang’s “flagship product.” Its successful development once filled a domestic gap and shattered the decades-long foreign technological monopoly in China. Boasting cutting-edge technology, comprehensive functionality, smooth operation, and high efficiency and safety, this transport vehicle has long been the backbone of China’s specialized transportation sector.

The DCY100 rocket transport vehicle and the DCY80 rocket transport-and-launch vehicle are both specialized models developed on the basis of the DCY series transport vehicles, specifically designed for the close-range transportation and launch of rockets. They comprise a power system, braking system, hydraulic system, control system, electrical system, and other subsystems, and are capable of operating in a variety of modes, including conventional driving, figure-eight steering, diagonal travel, center-rotating, oscillating turn (with swiveling front and rear ends), and 90-degree lateral travel.

In addition to its rollover function, the transport vehicle is equipped with an erection system. Once the rocket has been transported to the designated launch pad, the vehicle uses this system to erect the rocket and precisely align it with the launch tower, thereby forming a roll-and-launch vehicle capable of executing rapid launches. With this roll-and-launch configuration, launch preparation time can be reduced from four hours to one hour, effectively addressing the challenges of lengthy preparation periods and low launch cadence. This capability will provide essential ground support for the mass production and delivery of commercial rockets.

As early as 2022, the Xindafang DCY80 rocket transport and launch vehicle facilitated the successful deployment of five satellites into sun-synchronous orbit aboard the Ceres-1 (Yaoyou-4) launch vehicle, setting a new record for private commercial rocket launch services in China.

According to reliable sources, in the second half of this year, the Xinfangda DCY100 rocket transporter and the DCY80 rocket transport-and-launch vehicle will each undertake rocket transportation and launch missions.

China’s strategic national assets remain true to their core mission. Recently, the rapid development of China’s space program has captured global attention, firmly placing it at the center of the world stage. Xindafang will closely follow this momentum, taking the revitalization of China’s specialized equipment industry as its responsibility, relentlessly pursuing excellence, boldly exploring new frontiers, and actively contributing to China’s space endeavors to unlock even greater possibilities.

Go China’s space program—go Xindafang!
