The full opening of the Jizheng High-Speed Railway is now in the final countdown, with joint commissioning and testing commencing on the section between Puyang and the Henan–Shandong provincial border.

At 23:00 on September 9, with the departure of test train No. 55001 from Puyang East Station, joint commissioning and trial operations officially commenced on the newly constructed Puyang–Henan–Shandong section of the Jizheng High-Speed Railway (from Puyang East Station to the newly built Nanle Station), signaling that the full-line opening of the Jizheng HSR is now in the final countdown.

The Jizheng High-Speed Railway is a double-track high-speed line with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It runs through northeastern Henan Province and western Shandong Province, connecting the provincial capitals of Zhengzhou and Jinan. The total length of the line is approximately 407 kilometers and it is being constructed in two phases. The Puyang–Zhengzhou section of the Jizheng HSR, spanning 197.28 kilometers, was opened to traffic on June 20, 2022.

The newly constructed Ji–Zheng High-Speed Railway’s Ji–Pu section has a total length of 209.647 kilometers, including a 40.820-kilometer segment between Puyang and the Henan–Shandong provincial boundary.

According to a relevant official from the Zhengzhou Railway Bureau of China State Railway Group, the purpose of the joint commissioning and testing of the newly constructed Puyang–Lu-Yu Provincial Boundary section of the Jizheng High-Speed Railway is to conduct comprehensive tests on the facilities and equipment along the new line, as well as on the interfaces and compatibility among various systems, using high-speed test EMUs and associated inspection equipment, thereby providing critical technical assurance for the opening and operation of the high-speed railway.

Upon the full completion of the Jizheng High-Speed Railway, the regional rail network will be further enhanced, reducing travel time between Zhengzhou and Jinan to under two hours. This development will strengthen connectivity between the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration and the Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration, accelerate the flow of key factors such as talent and capital among cities along the route, and provide greater convenience for public travel.
