Joint Commissioning and Testing Commences on the Lai-Rong Section of the Weifang–Rongcheng High-Speed Railway

At 7:10 a.m. on July 10, with the departure of test train No. 55101 from Laixi Station, the joint commissioning and testing of the Laixi–Rongcheng section of the Weifang–Rongcheng High-Speed Railway—designed by China Railway Fourth Institute, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation—was officially launched, marking the start of the countdown to the line’s opening to traffic.

The Lai–Rong section of the Weifang–Rongcheng High-Speed Railway is located along the southeastern coast of the Jiaodong Peninsula in Shandong Province and is part of China’s “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed rail network. —The connecting line between the Qingdao–Yinchuan Corridor and the Coastal Corridor stretches 193 kilometers from Laixi in Qingdao in the west to Rongcheng in Weihai in the east, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The entire line includes seven stations: Laixi, Laiyang South, Haiyang, Rushan South, Weihai South Sea, Wendeng South, and Rongcheng. Construction commenced in November 2020 and static acceptance was completed at the end of June 2023.

All bridges along the Lai-Rong section of the Weifang–Rongcheng High-Speed Railway The project includes 65 bridges and 13 tunnels, with the longest being the 6,058-meter Yuhuangshan Tunnel. The entire line is equipped with continuous welded rail, primarily using CRTS III slab track—a type of ballastless track system developed with China’s independent intellectual property rights. To date, static acceptance has been completed for the entire line and for all five newly constructed station buildings; all equipment rooms have been put into operation; and the residential and operational buildings are now ready for occupancy, meeting the conditions for commencing integrated commissioning and trial operations.

According to reports, the Lai-Rong section of the Weifang–Rongcheng High-Speed Railway is a national It serves as a connecting line within the “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed rail network’s coastal corridor, an important component of Shandong’s “Four Horizontals, Six Verticals, and Three Rings” high-speed rail network, and the primary passenger transport artery for the Jiaodong Peninsula region. Upon completion and opening to traffic, this high-speed railway will play a vital role in addressing the shortcomings of the regional rail network, accelerating the development of Shandong as a national demonstration zone for building a transportation powerhouse, fostering a “rail-based Shandong,” and promoting the integrated development of the Jiaodong Economic Circle.
