Troubleshooting for Flatbed Trucks

If we say, Flatbed truck If the clutch pedal has fully depressed the brake switch valve yet the gear selector still struggles to engage the start gear, this indicates a fault in the clutch-brake system. In such cases, the first step is to inspect the brake air circuit: loosen the connection at the lower left side of the Fuller transmission where the brake valve is located, then depress the clutch pedal all the way until it fully opens the clutch-brake valve, and observe the air-line connector. If air flow is obstructed, it suggests a malfunction of the brake switch valve, which should be disassembled for inspection or replacement; if exhaust is smooth, the clutch-brake air cylinder must be disassembled for inspection, checking whether the cylinder’s sealing rings are worn and leaking and whether the piston moves freely without binding. If leakage is detected, the “O”-ring should be replaced. Finally, examine the concave arc surface of the piston’s braking face for severe wear; if wear is significant, the brake-cylinder piston must be replaced.

If you find that the flatbed truck experiences difficulty shifting gears during normal operation, the first step should be to check for faults in the remote-control gearshift linkage. Improper adjustment of the linkage or air leaks at the connecting joints can both increase shifting resistance and make gear changes more difficult. In particular, if certain gears are hard to engage, adjust the adjusting screw on the shift-arm support bracket on the transmission to ensure that the control linkage is properly positioned.
