What are the pre-use inspection items for bridge cranes?

  Regarding the bridge type Crane What configuration checks must we perform before daily use? Bridge cranes must be tested prior to operation, and can only be put into normal service once the tests have been passed. So what exactly should be done before a bridge crane is put into use?

  First, for newly installed or overhauled cranes, a comprehensive inspection shall be conducted prior to commissioning, involving experienced electricians, fitters, crane operators, and relevant technical personnel. The main items to be inspected are as follows:

  1. Verify that all installation and configuration requirements are met, that the metal structure is free from deformation, and that the wire rope is properly and reliably secured on the pulleys and drum.

  2. Verify that the rotating assembly is installed correctly and operates smoothly. Manually rotate the drive wheel, output shaft, and the mechanism driven by the drive wheel through one complete revolution; all rotating shafts should turn evenly without any binding or sticking.

  3. The installation framework for cranes shall comply with the relevant technical safety regulations;

  4. The installation and adjustment of the brakes shall be correct and reliable. For large-cart traveling mechanisms with independent drive, the two brakes shall be set so that one is engaged while the other is released.

  5. All lubrication points shall be adequately supplied with the specified lubricating oil (or grease), and the lubricating oil level in each reducer shall be maintained within the prescribed range.

  6. With the power supply disconnected, verify the correct wiring of the control cables and ensure that all controllers operate smoothly and reliably; all electrical equipment must function properly, with particular attention to the reliability of electromagnets, limit switches, and emergency stop switches.

  In addition, we must thoroughly conduct testing during the commissioning process and perform post-commissioning tests to ensure the equipment’s performance for future use. Specifically, lubrication at all lubricated points should be adequate, bearing temperatures should remain within normal limits, the brake should operate smoothly and reliably, and the brake band must maintain good contact with the brake wheel.
