Proper Use of Beam Transport Vehicles

The same machine Beam transporter Why is there such a big difference in performance among different users? If the girder-launching truck is equipped with a diesel engine, it is essential to refuel only at authorized PetroChina or Sinopec stations and avoid skimping on fuel costs by using low-quality diesel. Poor-quality fuel cannot be guaranteed to meet standards; when burned, it can lead to increased carbon deposits inside the cylinders and engine knocking. Moreover, if the fuel contains excessive impurities, it may clog the fuel injectors, and the cost of repairing or replacing these injectors can easily run into several thousand to tens of thousands of yuan—far outweighing any small savings on fuel.

Keep the girder transporter’s engine speed within an appropriate range to maintain steady, uniform travel; avoid frequent gear changes, as well as excessive overtaking, as both can adversely affect vehicle performance; before climbing a grade, anticipate the required gear in advance and shift into it ahead of time; when descending, rely primarily on engine braking, and if you do use the brakes, avoid keeping them in a partially engaged, partially disengaged state for extended periods.

The tires and chassis of beam-transporting trucks significantly affect vehicle performance. These vehicles typically carry heavy loads, so cargo must be distributed evenly during loading to prevent imbalances such as a heavy front end or uneven weight distribution between the left and right sides. This is a key reason why two trucks in service for the same period may exhibit markedly different conditions: one remains in excellent condition after five or six years, while the other starts creaking and rattling after only two or three years. Tire specifications should be consistent, with appropriate tread patterns selected for each axle, and tire pressure should be properly adjusted according to the season and prevailing weather conditions.

Another important point is maintenance. As the saying goes, “Sharpening the knife does not delay the woodcutting”—the engine oil, oil filter, diesel filter, and air filter on beam-transporting trucks must be replaced regularly, using only genuine, approved products. Worn parts should be lubricated promptly; for example, the camshaft and tappets must be properly lubricated. Failure to do so can lead to brake lockup, failure of the brakes to release, delayed braking response, and other issues, significantly compromising driving safety while also increasing wear and fuel consumption.
