Safety Devices for Cranes

To ensure the safety and reliability of lifting operations, Crane It is equipped with comprehensive safety devices to protect machine components and to alert the operator in the event of an accident, thereby providing effective safety protection.

  1. Relief valves in the hydraulic system: They can suppress abnormal high pressure in the circuit, prevent damage to the hydraulic pump and motor, and protect against overload.

  2. Boom Luffing Safety Device: In the event of an accident—such as a rupture or severance of the high-pressure hose or oil pipe in the boom luffing cylinder circuit—the balance valve in the hydraulic circuit will activate, locking the working fluid in the lower chamber of the cylinder and preventing the boom from dropping, thereby ensuring operational safety.

  3. Boom Telescoping Safety Device: In the event of an accident—such as a rupture or severance of the high-pressure hose or oil line in the boom telescoping cylinder circuit—the balance valve in the hydraulic circuit will activate, locking the working fluid in the lower chamber of the cylinder and causing the crane to automatically retract, thereby ensuring operational safety.

  4. Height Limit Device: When the hook is hoisted to the prescribed height and contacts the limit weight, the travel switch is activated and the “Bypass” indicator light illuminates. At the same time, operations for hoisting the hook, extending the boom, and lowering the boom are automatically locked out to ensure safety. In this situation, simply operating the control lever to lower the hook, retract the boom, or raise the boom (i.e., moving the lever to the safe side) will release the height limit, restoring normal operation. In special circumstances where a slight bypass operation is still required, the release button on the instrument panel may be pressed, which will disable the limit function; however, such operations must be carried out with extreme caution to prevent accidents.

  5. Leg Locking Device: In the event of an accident, if the high-pressure hose or pipeline leading to the leg’s vertical hydraulic cylinder ruptures or is severed, the bi-directional hydraulic lock in the hydraulic system will block the pressurized oil in both chambers of the leg cylinder, preventing the leg from retracting or being ejected and thereby ensuring the safety of lifting operations.

  6. Load Indicator: The load indicator is mounted on the side of the main boom (i.e., on the right side of the control cab), allowing the operator to observe it clearly from the cab and accurately display the boom luffing angle and the crane’s permissible rated lifting capacity under the corresponding operating conditions.

  7. Lifting Performance Chart: Located on the lower front panel of the control room. This chart lists the rated lifting capacity and lifting height for various boom lengths and working radii, for reference during operation. When lifting, do not exceed the values specified in the chart.
