Xin Dafang Was Invited to Attend the ISST 2022 International Shield Tunneling TBM Summit and Deliver an Academic Presentation

Xin Dafang News: From August 19 to 21, the ISST2022 International Shield Tunneling TBM Summit was successfully held in Zhengzhou, co-hosted by more than ten leading companies in the industry, including the State Key Laboratory of Shield Tunneling and Excavation Technology, China Railway Tunnel Group, and China Railway Equipment. As a domestic leader in specialized construction equipment, Chen Hao, Deputy General Manager of Xin Dafang, was invited to deliver an academic presentation titled “Key Technologies for Shield Tunneling TBM and Excavation: Rubber-Wheeled Material Transport in Tunnels.”

The ISST International Summit on TBM Technology was held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The summit focuses on international innovation in TBM technology as well as the latest developments in new products, technologies, and processes, providing a platform for technical exchange among professionals in TBM design, construction, manufacturing, research, and remanufacturing. This year’s summit is themed “Promoting Green Intelligent Manufacturing and Achieving Eco-friendly Smart Management,” with the aim of deepening innovation in TBM technology and advancing the intelligent development of TBMs. Discussions will center on key topics such as urban road tunnels and digital transformation in the post-pandemic era, new technologies, equipment, and materials for smart and resilient tunnel construction, and their innovative applications.

In his academic presentation, Chen Hao outlined the innovative development journey of Xindafang’s specialized transport vehicles in recent years. He stated that since 2003, Xindafang has been manufacturing China’s first self-propelled, bi-directional, driver-controlled powered flatbed transporter, and on this foundation has subsequently developed a series of related products, including modular transport vehicles, airport rescue vehicles, and tunnel-material transport vehicles. With societal progress and development, underground construction projects such as tunnels have been expanding at a rapid pace. For long tunnels constructed using shield machines, TBMs, or drill-and-blast methods—particularly those with steep gradients—horizontal material transportation is challenging, and rail-based transport often fails to meet construction requirements; accordingly, Xindafang has undertaken research and development specifically for tunnel…

A rubber-tired tunnel material transporter specially designed for underground construction. Subsequently, in response to societal needs and continuous product upgrades, the Xindafang tunnel transporter has been integrated with an intelligent management system, significantly enhancing its safety and level of intelligence. At the same time, features such as 3D digital twins, multi-vehicle collaborative management, human–machine collaboration, and big-data analytics have been developed, providing robust technological support for scientific, precise, and efficient tunnel material transportation. This gradual transition toward informationization and intelligent operation has made a positive contribution to tunnel construction in China.

The summit was attended by Du Yanliang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Chen Xiangsheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; numerous well-known professors from Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Wuhan University, Zhengzhou University, and other institutions; technical leaders from China Railway Tunnel Bureau, China Railway Equipment, and Xi’an Rail Transit; as well as R&D personnel from nearly thirty enterprises. All gathered in Zhengzhou to jointly discuss the innovative development of shield TBM and tunneling technologies as well as remanufacturing technologies.
