Total investment of RMB 39.8 billion: The Pingluo–Zhoukou High-Speed Railway is set to break ground.
On June 20, 2022, a mobilization meeting was held for the construction of the newly built Pingdingshan–Luohe–Zhoukou High-Speed Railway.
The Pingluo–Zhoukou High-Speed Railway is an important component of the national comprehensive, three-dimensional transportation network’s main backbone. The line runs from Pingdingshan West Station in the west to Zhoukou East Station in the east, with four intermediate stations—Pingdingshan South, Wuyang North, Luohe West, and Zhoukou West—and connects at both ends to the Jiaozuo–Luoyang–Pingdingshan section of the Hohhot–Nanning High-Speed Railway as well as the Zhengzhou–Chongqing and Zhengzhou–Fuyang High-Speed Railways. The total length of the line is 199.673 kilometers. The project is scheduled for a construction period of 3.5 years, with a total planned investment of approximately RMB 39.8 billion. 
According to the briefing, in order to ensure the timely commencement of the Pingluo–Zhoukou Project, Henan Railway Construction Investment Group has adopted a project-first approach and implemented a visual management system. The group has systematically identified and clarified 68 key tasks across seven phases, along with their respective timelines and responsible parties, closely monitoring objectives, rigorously managing critical milestones, and advancing all preliminary project work in a coordinated and phased manner. Currently, the project’s feasibility study has been reviewed, and all prerequisite approvals required for the approval of the feasibility study have been obtained.
Upon completion, the Pingluo–Zhoukou High-Speed Railway will establish a new major corridor connecting Northwest China, via the Central Plains region, to the Yangtze River Delta. This project will enhance Zhengzhou’s hub connectivity and the resilience and reliability of the national rail network, facilitate the deeper integration of沿线 areas into the Yangtze River Delta, help forge a Central Plains–Yangtze River Delta economic corridor, and promote the high-quality development of the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration.
