Wu Tianjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Visits Xindafang to Inspect and Provide Guidance
Xindafang News: On June 10, Wu Tianjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, led Wang Yuehua, a member of the Municipal Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department, along with heads of relevant municipal departments, to conduct a field inspection at the Xindafang Industrial Park, accompanied by Chen Hongmin, Deputy Secretary of the Erqi District Party Committee and District Mayor, among others. The delegation reviewed enterprises’ efforts in scientific and technological innovation, helped address practical challenges they face in development, and sought opinions and suggestions on advancing Zhengzhou’s development as an innovative city. Zhang Zhihua, Chairman and President of the company, accompanied the delegation throughout the visit.
Zhang Zhihua briefly briefed Secretary Wu and his delegation on the company’s approach to technological innovation and its achievements. He stated that without core technologies, an enterprise is bound to fall behind—and being left behind means being eliminated by the market; this is a well-known law of competition. To prevail in fierce competition, Xindafang has adopted an innovative development strategy of “driving development through innovation and driving innovation through development,” using technological innovation as the breakthrough to enhance the company’s core competitiveness. As a result, the company has leveraged its technological leadership to become a leading player in China’s specialized construction equipment sector. Zhang Zhihua emphasized that the R&D of new technologies and products must be underpinned by a strong technical team, and Xindafang has made unremitting efforts to build such a team. Each year, the company allocates more than 5% of its profits to reward employees for patent inventions, academic papers, research outcomes, and other achievements, thereby motivating R&D personnel to work even harder to develop new products, solve challenging problems, and explore new frontiers. It is precisely this innovative mindset and dynamic spirit that have enabled Xindafang to maintain remarkable market-share growth despite severe headwinds—including the global economic downturn, sluggish domestic infrastructure investment, an overall industry slump, and weak market demand. As of May 2014, Xindafang had secured new contracts totaling RMB 600 million, a 100% increase over the same period in 2013—a performance that has drawn widespread admiration from the industry.
Secretary Wu commended the company’s innovative approach, highly praised its leapfrog development, and inquired about its transformation and upgrading, new-product R&D, and market prospects. He stated that building an innovative city and establishing a national innovation center are our responsibilities in implementing the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the provincial Party committee; they are the primary prerequisite for developing Zhengzhou into a national central city; they represent an urgent task for Zhengzhou’s transformation, upgrading, and sustainable development; and they are also a practical necessity for driving Zhengzhou’s leapfrog development. Upon learning that the company’s IPO process had been delayed due to the pending issuance of its land-use certificate, Secretary Wu immediately instructed the relevant departments to expedite the completion of the company’s land-related procedures, remove all obstacles, and vigorously promote the company’s successful listing.
At the test track, two 1,800-ton girder-launching cranes destined for Hyundai’s Kuwait Bay Cross-Sea Bridge project are undergoing intensive commissioning. When Secretary Wu learned that Xindafang, through technological innovation, had successfully resolved several global challenges—namely, the synchronous control of two tire-mounted cranes and four girder transporters on the Kuwait project, overheating of the hydraulic systems in bridge-construction equipment operating in high-temperature environments, engine thermal balance, and power-system reliability—and ultimately secured first place overall in technical evaluation by outperforming leading European and American firms in the same bidding round, he was extremely pleased. He commended Xindafang for leveraging independent innovation to take “Made in Zhengzhou” beyond China’s borders and onto the world stage. At the same time, Secretary Wu emphasized that, given the limited size of the domestic market, the company’s strategy of expanding into overseas markets is forward-looking; however, international markets impose stringent standards. Therefore, Xindafang must align every aspect of its operations—including product R&D and design, employee training, and management practices—with international benchmarks, thereby transforming Xindafang into a truly global enterprise.
Finally, Secretary Wu pointed out that enterprises, as the main players in the market economy, must assume the responsibility for Innovation. As the leading brand in China’s specialized construction equipment sector, Xindafang is not only the pride of Zhengzhou City but also the pride of Henan Province. He expressed the hope that Xindafang will continue to innovate in its future development, comprehensively pursuing innovation in technology, institutional mechanisms, management, and mindset, and establishing its own independent innovation system that integrates industry, academia, research, and government. In this way, the company can achieve sustainable development and make greater contributions to Zhengzhou’s economic and social development.
