The national “11th Five-Year Plan” science and technology support project undertaken by Xindafang has successfully passed acceptance inspection.

Xindafang News: Recently, the national 11th Five-Year Plan project on spider-type aerial work platforms and their industrialization, undertaken by Xindafang, was successfully concluded and passed the project acceptance review organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The National “11th Five-Year” Science and Technology Support Project—“Technology and Industrialization Development of Installation and Maintenance Equipment for High- and Large-Span Building Projects”—is jointly undertaken by Xindafang, Chang’an University, the Langfang Branch of the China Academy of Architectural Research, Beijing Jingcheng Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (formerly Beijing Crane Factory), and Langfang Kaibo Window-Cleaning Equipment Co., Ltd.

Xin Dafang is responsible for the design and development of the telescopic boom above the slewing bearing, the slewing platform, the folding-arm mechanism, and the suspended working platform. This portion of the project is highly technology-intensive, technically challenging, and involves a heavy workload; the R&D team has successively overcome three major technical hurdles. First, they pioneered the simultaneous extension and retraction technology for a four-section telescopic boom, which has earned unanimous praise from collaborating partners. Second, they mastered welding processes for thin plates with a yield strength exceeding 700 MPa and large-scale arm-frame bending techniques; the arm frame in this project is fabricated from high-strength alloy steel plate, with a maximum thickness of 4 mm and a minimum thickness of 3 mm. Welding such thin plates places extremely stringent demands on welding procedures and dimensional accuracy control, so the project team actively coordinated with external partners to carry out collaborative manufacturing, thereby obtaining first-hand data on thin-plate welding and bending. Third, they developed a welding process for high-strength aluminum—an entirely new material being used by the company for the first time, with limited technical documentation. Through numerous trials, the R&D team fully mastered all aspects of high-strength aluminum welding, laying the foundation for the application of this novel material on new equipment.

The project was officially launched in April 2009. In December of the same year, the Xindafang project team submitted the first set of drawings, along with relevant survey reports and technical analysis reports, ranking first among all collaborating entities. The successful implementation of this project brought recognition to the company and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent rollout of large-boom equipment.

On October 1, 2011, the prototype completed in-factory testing and was delivered from the factory. In November 2012, the equipment made a successful debut at the Shanghai Construction Machinery Exhibition (Bauma).
