Xin Dafang Successfully Wins Bid for 1,800-Ton Bridge Construction Complete Equipment Package for Hyundai’s Kuwait Gulf Bridge Project

In January 2014, at the dawn of a new year and amid widespread renewal, Xindafang confidently kicked off the year with a strong start, securing the top technical score in a highly competitive international bidding process. The company successfully won the contract to supply a complete set of bridge-construction equipment—totaling 1,800 metric tons—for Hyundai’s Kuwait Gulf Bridge project, with a contract value of RMB 240 million, thereby drawing widespread admiration and attention from the global bridge-building community. Hyundai is ranked 36th on the Fortune Global 500 list and is one of South Korea’s five major conglomerates. As a globally renowned enterprise, Hyundai imposes extremely stringent requirements on its partners, conducting comprehensive assessments across all dimensions, including corporate philosophy, reputation, production qualifications, manufacturing capabilities, product quality, and after-sales service. In 2010, Xindafang’s self-developed series of high-speed railway bridge-construction equipment—including 1,000-ton girder-lifting cranes, girder transporters, and bridge-erection machines—secured a contract with Hyundai, marking the first time that China’s high-speed-rail construction equipment had been exported abroad. This milestone not only laid the foundation for Xindafang to enter the international high-end bridge-construction market but also represented the first overseas deployment of “Made in Zhengzhou” products, earning recognition for China’s specialized construction-equipment sector on the global bridge-building stage and underscoring its significant historical importance. The Kuwait Gulf Bridge is located in an inland gulf in Kuwait, in the Middle East; it features a 60-meter span and a design length of 34 kilometers, and is hailed as the world’s fourth-longest sea-crossing bridge, following the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in the United States, the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge in China, and the Hangzhou Bay Bridge in China. The region is characterized by a severely polluted desert environment, with intense heat and aridity, where summer temperatures can soar as high as 60 degrees Celsius.

Xin Dafang Proudly Awarded the Title of “Henan Provincial Innovation Demonstration Enterprise” in 2013

Xindafang News: Recently, the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology and the Provincial Department of Finance jointly announced the list of Henan Province’s 2013 Demonstration Enterprises for Innovation, and Xindafang Heavy Industry Technology Co., Ltd. was among those recognized. According to reports, enterprises designated as provincial demonstration units for innovation must meet several stringent criteria, including maintaining a certain scale of production and operations, possessing a provincially recognized or higher-level enterprise R&D center, and allocating at least 3% of their annual sales revenue to R&D. Xindafang has always regarded innovation as the soul of the enterprise, adopting the guiding principle of “promoting development through innovation and driving innovation through development.” Leveraging its robust R&D capabilities, the company has achieved one breakthrough after another in the field of heavy-duty specialized construction technologies and equipment, positioning itself as a leader in specialized construction equipment and setting an outstanding example for technological innovation among private enterprises nationwide. The company has established an academician workstation and a postdoctoral research station, and has been recognized as a “National-Level Enterprise Technology Center.” To sustain its momentum and vitality for continuous innovation, the company allocates no less than 5% of its annual sales revenue to research funding, ensuring that technological innovation can be steadily advanced. As a result, while consolidating its foothold in traditional markets, the company has also made new breakthroughs in emerging fields such as coal mining, port and terminal operations, civil aviation and aerospace, offshore oil exploration, desert and shallow-water rescue, and fire protection for high-rise urban buildings. Provincial demonstration enterprises for innovation are selected and certified annually through a joint review process conducted by the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology and the Provincial Department of Finance. This designation serves as an important benchmark for assessing the overall strength of enterprises across the province and, more broadly, for measuring the level of industrial development in each prefecture-level city. The ultimate goal is to enable these enterprises to play a demonstrative, leading, and catalytic role, thereby supporting the adjustment and upgrading of the industrial structure throughout the city.

Lu Yongxiang, Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress, Visits Xin Dafang for Research

Xin Dafang News: At the end of 2013, Lu Yongxiang, Vice Chairman of the 11th National People’s Congress and former President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with experts from the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering and other relevant organizations, paid a field visit to Xin Dafang during an inspection tour in Henan Province on the “Strategy for Developing Design Innovation.” As an internationally renowned hydraulics expert, Chairman Lu, accompanied by Chairman Zhang Zhihua, first visited the Production and Manufacturing Center, where he inspected a range of new products resulting from the company’s transformation and upgrading—namely, the aircraft container handling platform, aircraft tug, hydraulic support vehicle, segment transport rubber-tyred vehicle, and tidal-flat vehicle—all developed independently by the company. He carefully inquired about the design and operational performance of these products’ braking and hydraulic systems. At the production site, Chairman Lu also listened to a briefing by Zhang Zhihua on the company’s operations, innovation, R&D capabilities, and manufacturing qualifications, expressing great satisfaction. He noted that China’s manufacturing sector is globally leading, yet there are still relatively few enterprises that rely on independent innovation; most are merely processing-oriented firms lacking core technologies of their own. In contrast, Xin Dafang, as a private enterprise, demonstrates an exceptionally strong commitment to science and technology, leveraging independent innovation to fill domestic gaps and break foreign monopolies across numerous fields—a truly remarkable achievement. During the subsequent symposium, Lu Yongxiang showed keen interest in the company’s current operating conditions and the challenges it faces, while also voicing his hopes for its future development. He praised Xin Dafang for two outstanding strengths: first, its contribution to national prestige and public benefit. He stated that through technological innovation, Xin Dafang has elevated China’s level of specialized construction equipment to a new height, undertaking tasks that large state-owned enterprises are reluctant to take on and assuming responsibilities that state-owned enterprises

By strengthening marketing externally and enhancing internal management, keeping pace with the times, and boldly pursuing reform, Xindafang has nonetheless achieved remarkable results.
